Tides: tragedy by the sea.

For a society based on solidarity, respect of human rights, acceptance and tolerance.

This work is dedicated to refugees, immigrants, stateless people, marginalized and discriminated people. Art for tolerance and social peace. Willkommenskultur (Welcoming culture).

I think that it is possible to find a way of sustaining social life distant from internal conflict.

Title of the work:

🇩🇪 Gezeiten, die Tragödie des Meeres

🇬🇧 Tides: tragedy by the sea

Size: 54 x 23 x 23 cm ca.

It is not easy for the so-called “committed artist” to divulge his work. Only a few art dealers want to invest in socially engaged artists.

However, I want to continue working, as a sculptor, as an artist, on this path.

When we prefer a path that is too easy, in fact, we can get lost. And then you are no longer yourself; you are no longer in tune with your thinking. You lose the best thing about yourself.

Used materials: Plaster, natural rubber, plant elements, paper tissue, rubber-plastic, tempera.

This work is especially dedicated to the tragedy of migrants on the Mediterranean Sea.

The Mediterranean Sea as a crossroads of desperate migrations and as a place in which political, social, and climate changes become a visible conflict.

Immigrants often become “apolidi”, i.e. stateless people; this is almost experienced and perceived by the victims as a fatalistic becoming. In such a panic and mental state it can be difficult to protect yourself from this perception. They become the inner drama that leads to self-destruction: they fall into the trap of a confused situation (in an unstable political, social and spiritual state) that will tear them apart.
